Having now completed the chapter 14 hands-on exercises I have now completed all of the hands-on practices and case studies from the book. This means that I have completed all of the practical side of my Design for the Internet module, and now only have to write up the 500 word report, which I will complete today, and therefore hopefully hand this assignment in today or tomorrow.
However first I should test my practical CD in the labs before submitting it to make sure it works.

Website is completed!
I have now completed my website! I have used CSS for layout - I have used a container to make sure that each page stays in the centre of the page. I have used one column for layout on each page except the History page, for which I have used two columns. I have used many items on my web pages such as a definition list, unordered lists and tables. I have also used a form on my contact page. I have used divs a lot in my website to position my material and spans in certain places to make sure that certain areas can be attached to a CSS style.
I will complete the hands-on practices for chapter 14 tomorrow. However I have used a part from the book in this chapter for my website, which was the form validation.

Website progress
I have sorted out the basic page layout. Each page will have its content in the centre of the page, with "white space" either side of the content. This is done with the margin and padding CSS properties. I am using a yellow colour scheme, which is easy on the eyes - not too bright. I have done the homepage and awards page so far, and am currently working on the staff page. I will be using a table on the staff page which I am currently working on.
I have done all of the required case studies and will now start chapter 8's hands-on practices.

Chapter 6 Completed
I have just completed the chapter 6 case studies. Next up is chapter 7, which only has 5 hands-on practices and the case studies look short. Its all about XHTML hyperlinks, so it should be an easier chapter. I will attempt to finish the hands-on tomorrow at least, and maybe start the case studies.
I will start my website soon, if not tomorrow. I drew some draft maps for what my website could look like in my notebook, so it should be easier to create it thanks to that.

Progress - 11/11/2011
I have just completed the hands-on exercises for chapter 6 in this tutorial, and will start the case studies when I get home. However I will now design a site map on paper for my final website to show how each page should look. I have seven pages to devise, but it shouldn't take the rest of the lesson. My website is going to be for a primary school I have made up - Hadleigh Riverside Primary School, which is based in my hometown of Hadleigh, in Suffolk.

Ideas to use on the final website
I think with my final website I will use divs to keep items in order. I will give the website a colour scheme, which is yet to be devised. I have no ideas for any use of pictures yet but I will be researching into this soon. I should be starting work on my website very soon.
As for the hands-on and case studies, I am currently working on the chapter 6 hands-on exercises. This afternoon I plan to at least finish chapter 6's hands-on exercises and then start work on the case studies.

Idea for final website
For this module I have to design a website for a chosen topic. It cannot be for a football team, video games or anything related to that. Therefore I have chosen to do a website for a primary school I will make up. The website has to have 7 pages, which I have already thought up for my website. A synopsis, site map and bibliography is due in this Friday which I have completed but am yet to print it out. The bibliography must have at least 5 sources that you think you will use for your website. It doesn't have to have every single source you will use but just 5 that you think you'll use. That is all for now.
